I knew what I wanted to do, but I didn't know how to get there. Thank the gods, Caitlin did! With her enthusiastic support, I lost 75 pounds in six months! My favorite things about Caitlin: She pushes me, but never too far. Working out with her is challenging but never intimidating. She understands that weight-loss alone isn't enough; she has helped me strengthen my core (which I didn't know I had!), compensate for a bad back, and dramatically improve my balance and physical confidence. She understands what it means to struggle with weight, and as a result has a fabulous can-do, no excuses attitude fortified with a hearty dose of empathy. With Caitlin I have realized my most important fitness goal: feeling healthy. I now have oodles of energy, feel strong, and have rediscovered my inner athlete. I was lucky to have hooked up with Caitlin. I sought a personal trainer to help strengthen my knee so that I could run again without pain. After 6 months of working with Caitlin, not only did my knee improve, but she brought me to the “next level.” My (neglected) core turned solid. I developed a healthy workout diet (eating properly before and after a run) and gained a much needed 5 lbs (all muscle). All of this resulted in my completion of the SF half marathon and I placed in the top 20% for my age bracket. This was my best performance ever and I owe this accomplishment to Caitlin! I would highly recommend her as a personal trainer. She knows her stuff. She motivates. She keeps the exercises fresh. She gives good advice and she monitors your progress. What I like most about Caitlin is that she accurately assessed my needs, and provided me with a proper fitness program. A workout with her for an hour was way better than what I could do on my own. -J.M.
With Caitlin's help and support, I've lost 45 pounds in five months (averaging about 2 pounds/week) and brought my body fat percentage down from 42% to 26%! I couldn't have done this without Caitlin's gentle pushing and mentoring (and jokes). I've learned so much about nutrition through her and she is a great role model as someone who "walks the talk" when it comes to changing your life and becoming healthy and fit. I credit our partnership to adding years onto my life, whereas before, I'm pretty sure I was on my way to Strokedom and Heart Attack City. What surprised me on this journey is how much more I think about, plan for and LOVE food and Caitlin is willing to talk to me ad nauseum about cooking, recipes, nutritional tips, the science of food and the "perils" of going out to eat. Caitlin is an AWESOME trainer. I worked out with her for about three months and felt some major changes in my body (I actually have a CORE now). The fact that she's been through a major weight loss and life change herself was totally motivating, and means she's empathetic (but tough!) when it comes to the challenges of losing weight. She kept things fresh every week with new moves and exercises, and was full of great nutrition advice. Most importantly, my time working out with Caitlin reminded me of how much I love feeling athletic and healthy, and it's inspired me to stick to my fitness routine even though I'm not currently training one on one. Caitlin is GREAT! I really enjoy working with her. She always mixes up our routine, encourages me to push myself way beyond what I would normally do (which is why I work with her), is patient with my limitations, and goes above and beyond what I would expect in terms of customer service. FIVE STAR TRAINER W/O A CLIPBOARD: Caitlin is an excellent trainer. She's smart, funny, imaginative and has done it herself. . . . Imagine my surprise when I first met Caitlin and she didn't have a chart and a clipboard. This isn't how trainers work , I thought. I learned very quickly that Caitlin has a much better way. Instead of rigidly repeating exercises, we do something different every week AND simultaneously work different muscle groups. For example, yesterday for the first time I did bicep curls while stepping. This integrated approach is a great workout! (After all, when you carry a bag of groceries up a flight of stairs, you're not working one muscle group are you?) The exercises are also helping me with balance and coordination. While I'm still working my way to a weight goal, I feel much stronger and have more stamina. If you're looking for a trainer, look no further.... -Lucy W. on Yelp
I first joined the gym in hopes of finding a way to regain some of the strength that I’ve lost due to my battle with muscular dystrophy. When I signed on for a personal trainer, I was hoping that they would provide me with the best advice on how to build my strength and maintain my current condition, but Caitlin provided me with much more. I’ve had experiences in the past where trainers didn’t know how to adjust to my level of needs: . . . they would put me at such a low level of expectations that there would be no room for a challenge. Caitlin not only provided me with a challenge, she backed up my efforts with encouragement both in the gym and out. Caitlin also gave me great advice on my proper dietary needs even with the added challenge my vegetarian lifestyle. Caitlin was an excellent trainer who tested me to my best abilities and always encouraged more without setting the bar too high. I would definitely recommend Caitlin to anyone who is looking for that kind push in a healthy direction. -Laura H.
I’ve been training with Caitlin for over a year now, and I think she’s great. The great thing about Caitlin is that unlike most trainers, she didn’t start out thin. She used to be 80 some pounds overweight, and showed me pictures of herself when she was in college at that weight when we first started training. She told me that she could really help me lose weight and we could work together to figure out a diet for me that could work. Caitlin convinced me that I didn’t have to starve myself to lose the weight, I started to listen to everything she had to say. What I liked the most about Caitlin is that she LOVES food as much as I love food. . . . As we were training, she would offer all different suggestions on yummy warm foods I could eat in restaurants that would be the lowest calorie and lowest fat content on the menu. . . . She introduced me to websites that got me to start keeping a food journal so that I would have the right range of calories, fat, carbs, and protein so that I wouldn’t starve or go over what I needed to still lose weight. I highly recommend Caitlin to anyone who is serious about losing weight and is open to making change to eating a more healthy diet. . . . Now, equipped with all the information to make the right food choices on the road, I feel very confident on keeping the weight off even as a road warrior. -Road Warrior Girl
